Inside the Brentwood school district partnership bringing happiness and strengths-based learning to schools
Brentwood, CA — November 2025
What if schools taught happiness the same way they teach reading and math?
That question is now at the center of a new partnership between Brentwood School District and See the Good!, a research-based happiness teaching method and program across every K–6 classroom in the district.
The initiative is designed to help students recognize their strengths, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create a more positive school experience - not through one-time assemblies or extra programs, but through everyday classroom life.
Educators in the school district have been introduced to the science and methods behind See the Good!, including hands-on resources such as activity cards, books, and classroom posters designed for immediate use. The professional development begins with teachers themselves, helping educators discover and use their own core strengths before bringing the approach into their classrooms.
This teacher-first model aligns closely with Brentwood Borough School District’s mission to help students think critically by “reasoning, creating, connecting, and transforming,” and its vision of preparing students for lifelong success in college, career, and individual life goals.
Beyond in-person resources, Brentwood Borough School District has launched See the Good!’s digital happiness and SEL platform, which provides tools for reinforcing positive behavior, supporting student growth, and building a strengths-based school culture. Together, the training, classroom materials, and digital platform create a practical framework for promoting well-being, kindness, collaboration, and stronger teacher-student relationships.
“One of our teachers shared that this was the best professional development session they had experienced in 20 years of teaching” said a Brentwood School District representative.
The partnership represents an important step in See the Good!’s growing work across the United States and internationally. In Brentwood, the goal is not to add another burden to teachers, but to give educators simple, evidence-based tools that support both adult well-being and student growth.
